COMMODORE- MARY RICHARDSON

Mary has been a member since 1996.  Prior to serving as Co-Director of Membership 2004,  Mary served the SYC Auxiliary as Entertainment Director in 2001 and Member at Large 2003. 

Mary owns "Sea Lark", a 100' tug.  She owned and worked a 55' commercial fishing vessel for 15 years and then a 23' Bear boat for fun.  Her professional life includes 15 years of restaurant management in private and semi-private clubs, paralegal work along with her current position with Oceanic Yacht Sales in Sausalito.



VICE COMMODORE- OZ WEST

Oz has been a member or the Club since 1981.  Prior to becoming Treasure, Oz chaired the Financial Committee in 2005 and participated on the Long Range Planning Committee in 2005.  He has also served on the Cruising, Race, and Entertainment Committees at various times over the years.
 
Oz and his wife, Karen have lived in San Francisco for over 40 years and have a Bayliner 38 which they keep in the Delta to use as a home away from home during the summers.  Oz recently retired from an engineering and project management firm which he owned for 28 years.  He is now doing some volunteer work and also keeps busy acting as an extra in movies and commercials being filmed in the Bay Area.

REAR COMMODORE- JAMES "J" RIGLER

James Riger has been a member of the Sausalito Yacht Club since January 1999. He began serving on Race Committee during the Mid-Winter Series of that same year. He found his niche documenting the races on digital video forreplay back at the club. His productions also include promotional tapes for the America’s Cup Challenge and the Sausalito Challenge, Race Awards Night and continues to document the history of the club and its members. Over the last several years he has been creating a video on the currents and tides of San Francisco Bay.

Rigler moved to the Bay Area in 1979. He has authored two, four-color photographic books. His 20-program video series, “Conversations with Interesting Characters” documents creative people, and includes many artists, writers, photographers, etc. who are accomplished in their field. Rigler co-produced a video documentary on winemaker, Robert Mondavi which aired in 2005. He and his wife, Gail, sail the Rubaiyat, a Newport 30.

JR. STAFF COMMODORE- JIM MCKIBBEN

Jim has been an active member of SYC since 1999 and has served on a number of special committees including the committee that revised the Nomination and Election Procedures in our By-Laws.

Jim and his wife Lisa live in Sausalito and frequently volunteer for club and community events. Jim serves on the Board of the Sausalito Art Festival and is a high technology marketing and sales executive. He sails a Pearson 385.

TREASURER- C. J. SPADY

CJ has been a member since 2004. Prior to serving as Treasurer, she served on the Long Range Planning Committee and has pitched in to assist the Race Committee on race days.

CJ grew up boating with her family on the Cheseapeake Bay in Virginia on a variety of boats, including power boats, catamarans, 22' Venture sail boat, "Moth" sailboats and sailboards.

SECRETARY- SUSAN ENSEY

Susan has been a member of SYC since 1994 when she moved to Sausalito.  She served for two years on the Long Range Planning Committee.  She also was involved with the Race Committee, cheering-on racers, pulling flags and recording race times.  She is a great fan of the Club. 

Susan is a consultant to high tech companies in recruiting management and software engineering talent and is active in volunteering in the community.

PORT CAPTAIN- CHARLES JAMES

Charles has been a member of Sausalito Yacht club since 2003. He owns the Tartan 30, Roxanne and actively races in many of the clubs races.

AUXILIARY PRESIDENT- MARGE BOTTARI

Marge Bottari has been part of the Yacht Club since 1992. She has served on the Board of Directors as Cruise Director, Secretary, Vice Commodore and Commodore.

When she is not working as a Loan Officer with All California Mortgage, with an expertise in Reverse Mortgages for Older Adults, she and her partner Bill can be found cruising the Delta and the Floating home community on their beautiful trawler Sea Fox.

MEMBERSHIP- ELAINE THORNE

Elaine has been a member of the SYC Auxiliary since 2003 and was their Membership Director for 3 years. She has spent 2007 assisting the current Membership Director of the SYC.

Elaine and her husband Pete have lived in Mill Valley since 1994 and frequently volunteer for club and community events. Elaine retired as a Senior Vice President of State Street Global Advisors in Boston.

RACE- PAUL ADAMS

Paul has been sailing on the SF Bay since 1976 when he moved to south Marin from New Orleans, after a stint in the Air Force. Paul and Barbara, his wife enjoyed sailing their first sail boat, Serendipity, an Ericson 30 for 11 years. They now cruise the Bay and Delta in FANSEA, a Catalina 34. After a successful career in banking technology consulting, he entered the maritime industry in 2004.

He holds a 50 ton Captain’s license with Sailing and Radar endorsements. He operates a sailing charter service in Sausalito and sells yachts. Paul joined SYC in 2005 and served on the Race Committee under James Rigler in 2007. Paul made his first blue water sailboat passage to Oahu in November, 2007.

CRUISE- DARRYL LEDOUX

Darryl joined the SYC in 2002. He and his wife Anne live aboard their 1974 55' Chris Craft, Enchantment, in Sausalito's Pelican Harbour, with their 1979 39' Columbia sloop French Leave in the same harbor.

For 36 years Darryl has been involved in law enforcement, first as a Federal Agent, later as a municipal police detective, and then as a Director of Corporate Security for several Bay Area corporations.

BAR & GALLEY- BILL HOGAN

Bill Has been a member of SYC since 1999.  During that time he has served on the Race Committee, volunteered for numerous events, and was our Port Captain in 2005.  Originally from Salem, Massachusetts, Bill and his family lived throughout the world growing up.  He was graduated from the University of San Francisco and is a former Captain in the Marine Corps.  Professionally,

Bill has built a highly respected real estate business in Marin and San Francisco over the past 20 years.  Whenever possible Bill enjoys time on the golf course, in the air flying, boating on the Bay, and especially the company of good friends at the SYC. Kathleen and Bill and their two labs live in Mill Valley.

ENTERTAINMENT- MERV REGAN

Merv has been a member of the Club since 1992 and has served as Entertainment Director and on other committees in the past. He is co-founder of the annual lighted yacht parade.

Having grown up in the Bay Area, Merv moved to Sausalito in the late 70’s. He served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce for years and as President twice. He serves as President of the Dipsea Race Board and is a member of the Board of the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation. Merv is President of Innovative Marketing.

DIRECTOR AT LARGE- JERRY TAPPIN (BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITEE)

Jerry joined the Sausalito Yacht club in 1990. Retired from shipping industry in 1996. Currently holds a USCG 100 Master license and has worked as a delivery skipper.

In 1996 was Bar & Galley chair. Spend two years on the Finance Committee. Chaired the Business Advisory Committee as a Director at Large for the past 3 years. Relief driver for Mercury and manager of the club’s small power boats.

DIRECTOR AT LARGE- PATRICK HIND-SMITH (SQUEEGEE EDITOR)

Patrick has been a member since 2004 and has lived in the Bay Area since 1999. Originally from the Pacific Northwest and graduated from high school on SaltSpring Island in the Canadian Gulf Islands and can give you lots of insights into the area.

Patrick is a Sr Buyer for Williams-Sonoma Inc and spends almost every weekend on the Bay with his wife , Sharon on board their Morgan 382, Margaux.
